High res faerun map2/18/2024 ![]() And again, I do not think we will ever be told anything either way, unless WOTC has a major direction shift in their overall approach to D&D.The very basics: Earth is made of tectonic plates. Unless there is something that I know for a fact has changed forever (again Tymanthyr for instance, which is currently fighting w Unther I believe?), I'm treating everything as it was back in 3e from a geographic perspective until told otherwise. Evermeet, Halruaa, etc are all confirmed to be back, and I expect the majority of the rest of Faerun is too. So for me personally, I interpret it as meaning that more or less nothing has changed. The in-universe explanation for this is that they weren't really destroyed, but exchanged with ones from Abeir and the Second Sundering returned most, if not all of them. This is because 5e (Second Sundering) essentially retconned most, if not all, of the 4e (Spellplague) geographic changes, because they were highly unpopular with most fans (aside from basically Tymanthyr). ![]() And so far, I do not believe any of that material shows major differences between 3e and 5e. The only exception to this are the occasional source books from Ed Greenwood 'The Border Kingdoms' or the new one about Thay for instance. Unless they start publishing novels again, it is likely to stay a mystery. WOTC has moved away from detailing FR in source books and is instead focusing on covering all their settings broadly, leaving specifics up to DMs. As others have said, we will never get a full map. ![]() This is all just my opinion, but, you may as well use the 2e and 3e maps that are still around online, including the one DestroyAllFascists posted.
